WELCOME TO CHS MR. SHAPOW

CHS welcomes Mr. Tony Shapow to the Choral program.  He has provided the following information and given me permission to share!

  • Mr. Shapow grew up in Saginaw.
  • He has an Associate of Arts degree from Delta College, a Bachelor of Music degree from MSU and a Master of Music degree from WM|U.
  • Throughout his teaching career, he has taught band, choir, general music, art, computers and an entreprenneur class.
  • He has taught in Hartford, Lakeshore/Stevensville, Albion, Lake Michigan Community College and briefly at Flint Carmen High School and St. Charles Community Schools.
  • Mr. Shapow enjoys being involved in community theatre and has played percussion in the pit orchestra for many community and youth productions at Tibbits Opera House, as well as many other venues. He has also directed many very successful musicals in his previous school districts,
  • He played professional drums before obtaining a teaching position.
  • Married to Melissa for 24 years they have 4 daughters. Melissa is an elementary music teacher for Kalamazoo Public Schools.  Their daughters are:  Tori (19), Nikki (17), Gabbi (10) and Livvi (7). The Shapow family has lived in Tekonsha for the past 14 years.
  • Mr. Shapow enjoys walking with his chocolate lab, Charli, gourmet cooking and spending his summers playing in his tropical rock band, 5 O'Clock Somewhere.
  • He plays and sings in his church's praise band.
  • He is involved in fundraising and awareness for Make-A-Wish organization and also for the PCD Foundation (a genetic lung disease that 2 of his daughters have),
Mr. Shapow feels privileged to be the new choir director (and Balladier director) and a teacher in the Coldwater Community School system.  He is looking forward to a great year,
